Hi Gabrielle! A student with this concern should be getting recommendations from a medical care provider or other skilled professional, who can consider their needs and make specific recommendations for each stage of recovery. It is beyond the scope of a yoga teacher's knowledge (unless they have other relevant certifications) to make individual recommendations for serious conditions such as this.
