Hi Deborah, great you noticed that. Also in your own practice you can play with micro-bending and going to your full range of motion. I think the problem is when we only stick to one way of doing things and then we affect the full range of motion of that body part. If you choose to fully extend then be aware of that and practice with that in mind, also same for micro-bending elbows. That is important because you should explore your own range of motion and all its degrees of flexion and extension and do all that with awareness and intention. Sometimes new students are not aware of that so as a teacher we can invite them to micro-bend the elbows as a way to bring their attention to that area of the body but also teach them that the other way is correct as well as long as they are aware of what their choices are.
