Hi Kirsten, are you able to hold the pose with your knees tucked in and heels toward sitbones? I would try to get that position first without the wall before reaching the legs up toward the ceiling. Also make sure most of the weight is in your arms so it is almost like you are trying to lift the crown of the head off the floor, just enough to slice a thin piece of paper under the crown. This is not to say that your crown has to be lifted always but just to give you the sense that most of the weight is in your arms. This will help you grow the awareness and strength in your arms that you need. Keep the focus on the core too. Once you are more comfortable with the weight of your body on the arms (and a continuous core connection), then you can think of reaching the legs up toward the ceiling. Once you achieve that, think extension of the spine and reaching the feet upward. I hope these tips help! Happy new year!
