Thank you, Willoughby, for sharing your perspective. If I understand you correctly, you are suggesting that privileged Westerners should not learn to live with less, so that those who are less fortunate may have more - because you believe that the universe provides for all. I like your belief that the universe provides for all, but I see evidence to the contrary everywhere I look: people with no housing, too little food. I see inequality of opportunity (as with the story of my white, male friend whose contract was not renewed, so that women and POC could be prioritized - a shift of priorities in our culture that I very much approve of). Perhaps I have misunderstood your meaning. If so, please let me know. In any case, we value your perspective and I will continue to consider it.
